“The magic of dusk” offers the chance to tour Món Sant Benet with Júlia Peraire, lover and later wife of Ramon Casas
“Júlia’s monastery” is this year’s title of “The magic of dusk”, the activity for summer evenings at Món Sant Benet: an experience blending the history of the monastery and a tasting experience in the vegetable garden, giving you the chance to spend a pleasant evening at Món Sant Benet and visit the monastery in an original, different way.
This is the fifth year of “The magic of dusk”, which will take place every Friday and Saturday between 11 July and 13 September. It is an approach that uses former inhabitants of the monastery to take us back to the past. Every year it offers new surprises for enjoying a special visit to the site. “The magic of dusk” includes an activity in Món Sant Benet’s organic vegetable garden, an outdoor dinner/tasting and, as a new feature this year, a tour of the monastery with Júlia Peraire, who was model, lover and finally wife of the modernista painter Ramon Casas, the man whose family made the monastery of Sant Benet their summer residence.
The activity begins at eight in the evening with the tour “From the vegetable garden to the stove”, in which visitors tour the Sant Benet vegetable gardens to discover, pick and taste the great variety of products grown there during the summer. Then, when the sun sets, there is a dinner made with these products in the pergola beside the apse of the church of Sant Benet, a charming place to enjoy local cuisine in the cool of dusk.
Finally, at about 10 in the evening, there is the “Júlia’s monastery” tour. The voice of the woman who was Ramon Casas’ lover and then wife accompanies us on a tour full of sensitivity and emotion taking in the various rooms of the monastery. Several video installations allow us to understand the personality of Júlia, a woman who left no-one indifferent, and, together with her, see Món Sant Benet with new eyes, discovering particular love story with Ramon Casas. The tour will end with a glass of cava in front of the church.
An evocative way of enjoying a very special evening at Món Sant Benet.
