The romantic spirit of Món Sant Benet
This summer, enjoy a unique musical experience at the monastery. Come and discover the romantic spirit of Món Sant Benet.
When Ramon Casas’ mother bought Sant Benet, the monastery was almost in ruins... The cloister was overgrown with vegetation and ivy was creeping up the walls. The restoration turned what had been a Romanesque monastery into romantic monument. Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata” can still be heard in the piano room, filling the monastery...
The new summer night experience at Món Sant Benet is intended to recreate the romantic musical and artistic experiences that permeate the monastery. In this evocative setting, we revisit the rooms accompanied by a string trio that will transport us back in time with the music of the German Romantic composers. Schubert, Schumann, Beethoven and others will be relived by young performers graduates of the Esmuc and presented in surprising ways.
The monastery will be filled with light and mystery, moonlight projections, artistic images and poetic quotations in an evocative setting, transporting us back to the romantic spirit of the monastery.
Dates: 12 July to 7 September. Fridays and Saturdays.
